I remember when I was younger, my parents used to travel to Indonesia quite frequently. When I was living alone, I tend to forget about my mother’s plants. Then when she returned, I often get a good nagging for sleeping on the job.
Things are different now as I’m now also a gardener, and I have my own vegetable plants. I check on them early in the morning, sometimes I go out in the heat of the afternoon to water them and even in the evening. My mother once told me that I won’t see them grow even if I peek at them a few times a day.
I get very excited when I see my trees flowering or fruiting. Then it made me wonder if our God also gets excited when He sees us bearing fruit.
When I see my seedlings get bigger, I get ready to move them to other pots. I believe that’s one of the reasons why we haven’t moved on to our next phase. It’s possible we haven’t grown in certain areas yet. God knows the right time to uproot us and replant us where He sees best.
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)
