I thought about my passport quite recently and feel somewhat disappointed that after having paid a sum to have a new passport, I end up having so few stamps on the pages. To add salt on the wound, it will expire next year. We had planned to make a trip to Bangkok early 2020 but on the departure date, the flight was cancelled and the whole country was under the first ‘lockdown’ or movement control order. Presently, I do not know when we will travel again.
On the flip-side, as a Christian, I have a longing to go home – to be reunited with our Lord and to see my father again. This earthly passport is getting worn out. I realize that as I get older, I tend to skip the daily news because they’re mainly bad news. I would rather read the Good News than what we see in the headlines.
It is tiring to continue to do good without seeing the results but we’re supposed to do good nonetheless.
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Saviour. (Philippians 3:20 NLT)
If you’re praying for your leaders, continue praying. If you’re serving, continue serving. In whatever time left remaining, let us continue to do good whether or not we see the results of our efforts.
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good.Titus 3:1 (NLT)
