The Unknown

It feels like only yesterday that I tore the last page of the calendar for the month of September but here we are already to step into December. The moment you reach September, time seems to move a lot faster. It’s as if the earth moves faster just to reach the next cycle.

It’s normal to feel uncertain as the year draws to an end. I won’t even get to the resolutions because I doubt that many can even meet half of their new year resolutions. So, don’t write up new year resolutions. Be guided by God in a daily basis.

If you know that you know that God has put a dream in your heart to pursue, baby steps is the key. My pastor once said that if God is the one who ordered it, He will pay for it. So, do not doubt His provision for your life. Just trust in His timing. Yes, you read it right. Things may not happen the way we want it and timing might be off (according to our plans) but God’s timing is best. Trust Him as you step into the near year and dream with Him.

Bible Verse

“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 6:1-9 (NLT)

The One Who Knows You

Last Monday, the Lord impressed upon my heart that I should fast (not from food) but from dramas. At first, I thought it was going to be so challenging after being hooked to various TV series (or some would call telenovelas). Back then, I didn’t know why He had led me to fasting from dramas but now I do. I found that the TV series had become a way of escapism from dramas in the real life. Sometimes it gives me the happily ever after that I desire. If you enjoy watching dramas, did you notice that it ends when the protagonist achieves his/her goals (whether it’s getting the revenge sought, getting married, seeing justice done)? Or in some series, the ending might not be what you desire but there is an end to it. It’s not a constant run in the rat race, or the race of life.

In my time away from dramas and drawing near to God by prayer and reading His Word, I was reminded that He is everywhere. Sometimes when work stresses me out, I can run to Him and hide because He knows me.

Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord. -Jeremiah 23:24 (NLT)

Are you tired of constantly running? Perhaps you’re not in the rat race but someone else is, which indirectly causes additional pressure in your life? If so, remember to draw near to Jesus.

Bible Verse

29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Matthew 11:29-30 (NLT)
