I’ve often wondered what Jesus meant in Mark 10:15. (15 I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” (NLT)
But first, what is the kingdom of God? The reign / lordship of God. To embrace Jesus as Lord and Saviour, it requires simple faith and the simplicity, and humility like seen from the eyes of a child. I believe that’s what He meant.
Then I realized that life is actually quite simple for a child. Looking back, my dad never failed as a provider. He worked hard although he was occasionally away, he still provided for his family. My mother never failed as a mother. As a child, I never had to worry. Growing up. That’s when you start to see things differently and start to have doubts etc.
Many years ago, I was really worried about my exam results. I knew I did not do well just because of how I struggled doing the final paper in 2nd year at university. When I left for summer vacation, I worried about losing my scholarship. I had trouble sleeping and my mind was extremely busy playing various scenarios in my mind. Then one night, I had a dream. In my dream, I saw a big sign in the highway. There were only 2 words. “Trust Me”.
The rest was history. I didn’t lose my scholarship.

Those who know your name trust in you,
Psalm 9:10 (NLT)
for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.
